BLURB
Danger is closing in.

Kerrigan Whitaker has spent the past two years reinventing herself into the strong, independent woman she’s always wanted to be, and running her first ultra marathon is the chance to prove to herself and everyone else how far she’s come. Her failed marriage made her wary of relationships, so she’s not ready to get involved with anyone else. Not even the man she secretly fantasizes about—who also happens to be her brother’s best friend. But when people she works closely with are murdered, she goes to the only place she feels safe—Crimson Point, and the man who tempts her like no other.

And the killer is closer than they realize.

Air National Guard Pararescueman Travis Masterson loves his career and has dedicated his life to saving and protecting others. There’s only one thing missing. Kerrigan—but she’s determined to keep walls up between them. He understands why she’s gun shy, but he can’t let her go. Not when every instinct is screaming that she’s it for him. After a shocking attack leaves her in the crosshairs of a cold-blooded killer, Travis is the only one who can save her. With her life in his hands, he’ll risk it all to stop the killer and protect the woman he can’t live without.

EXCERPT from FALLING HARD (click here to read it now!)

It was raining harder now, but the canopy of trees in the parking lot shielded them from the worst of it. At the passenger door Travis reached past her to flatten his hands on the doorframe, caging her in with his arms on either side of her.

She tensed, her intense awareness of him sizzling across her skin. More than six feet of powerful, sexy male, and he wanted her. And God help her, she wanted him too.

He leaned in, dropping his head until his nose nuzzled the side of her neck. She sucked in a swift breath, her fingers tightening around the blanket. He did it again, slower this time, his lips grazing her skin.

Her eyelids fluttered closed, suddenly too heavy to keep open. Every nerve ending he touched sparked to life.

“Travis,” she whispered shakily. They shouldn’t do this. They couldn’t do this.

He turned her around to face him, his face shadowed. So close, his mouth inches away. Making her want to weep with frustration while gentle raindrops fell around them, landing in her hair and pattering softly on the roof of his truck.

He lowered his head. Angling toward her mouth. She held her breath, swayed toward him before she could stop herself.

His hands came up to cradle her face, the tender, protective hold making her stomach flip. She let go of the blanket, telling herself to push him away, stop this now, but ended up curling her hands around the tops of his wide shoulders instead. The warmth of his palms bathed her cheeks for a few more heartbeats, then he leaned in and pressed a kiss to her forehead.

Her heart squeezed, then kicked into overdrive, all the reasons why she should push him away flooding her mind. But then he dipped down to brush his lips across hers in a slow, seductive caress, and she couldn’t think at all.

She dug her fingers into his shoulders and kissed him back, unable to stop herself. He made a low, hungry sound that sent a tremor through her muscles and angled his head, slanting his lips across hers. Slowly. As if savoring her. Sucking tenderly at her lower lip before stroking his tongue across it.

Oh, God, you have to stop this…

Clinging to the last of her sanity, she broke the kiss and buried her face in his chest, still clinging to him, her breathing ragged, heart thudding.

He wound a muscular arm around her waist and cupped the back of her head in his hand, long fingers stroking through her hair. “Talk to me,” he urged.

She swallowed, searching for the right words. “I’m not… We can’t.”

He tipped her head back, forcing her to look at him. “Why not?”

“You’re Brandon’s best friend, and I’ve spent the past two years putting my life back together. It’s been hard to gain my independence, and I’m not ready to jump back into anything—”

He took her chin between his thumb and fingers. “Brandon would be fine with it as long as we’re not just screwing around. Which we wouldn’t be, because I’m dead serious about you. As for the second part, I know you were hurt before. But I’m not gonna hurt you, sweet pea. Not ever.”

The unique endearment, combined with the quiet certainty of his tone, made the backs of her eyes sting. She wanted to believe him so badly. Wanted to believe it was true. But she couldn’t. Was too afraid of being hurt again.
